They didn't have to, but they did it. 

The new EP1320 by Teenage Engineering is ridiculous in every way imaginable and finds new ways to pack fun into a very usable instrument. From the ornamental gold foiling on the packaging to the old english styled LCD numbers, the attention to detail is quite the sight. 

I had no idea what to expect sound wise and was getting ready for something more on the gimmick side of things. When I started playing the samples through the key mode - it became apparent they put the same amount of thought into getting very unique sounds that could be used in a lot of genres (not just for the renaissance fair revivalists). 

I had made an indie rock jam video the night before getting this in the mail. To test my theory of how it would sound with traditional instruments, I threw it into the mix as the main lead / melody.
